From a young age, Dr. Ashkin knew that he wanted to help others. In fact, he completed his undergraduate education at Lehigh University and medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 6 years instead of the usual 8 years. He went on to do his medical internship at the University of Pennsylvania and Neurology residency at the Neurological Institute of New York. He then did a fellowship in Sleep Medicine and Epilepsy at the Cleveland Clinic. He achieved numerous academic accolades along the way including Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies.
He and his wife settled in Charlotte, NC in 1994 where he has been practicing his specialties ever since. He was one of the first sleep physicians to come to the Charlotte region. He is board-certified in Sleep Medicine, Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy.
Dr. Ashkin was named Top Neurologist in 2017 by the Top Doctor Awards.
Outside of work, Dr. Ashkin enjoys table tennis, chess, hiking and spending time with his family.
